Question: What is youtube cleanup? Do I get free stuff?

 

 

Answer: Good Question! Youtube will soon be undergoing some large changes and we want everyone to understand just what those changes involve and how they are working for the better.

Youtube Cleanup is an umbrella term for a number of innovative new changes that will take place over the course of three months. Think of it as a deep spring cleaning as we scrub and polish the works behind the scenes

 

Question: What kind of changes does that involve?

 

Answer: The changes are based on an upgrading and refining youtube's content filtering systems. One big change for content creators is that all youtube videos uploaded will require at least one search tag regardless of length. This will not apply to private videos but both unlisted and public videos will need at least one hashtag to indicate a correct category. Videos found which are not given the correct tag may be given a new one.

Another change will be the Youtube Trust system. This will work similarly to twitch partnership or twitter verified users. Channel owners with large enough audiences who are willing to prove their identity will be given a youtube trust badge. In return, they will receive benefits such as enhanced monetisation scheme and priority support in resolving copyright disputes.

Alongside these two changes, we are also tuning up our content search bot

We are are in some flaws in our previous ai’s in assessing the content of videos. A proportion of videos were getting incorrectly flagged as inappropriate while many others were sleeping through the cracks. `Over the three month period we are deploying a new ai and are also encouraging users to give feedback on how its going. Bot the bot will have some help as we have been listening to feedback and our proud to introduce a dedicated team of humans to back it up. This will bring back some of the human element that some have feel the content process has been missing

 

Question; Wait so are you gonna start deleting stuff?

 

Answer: Here at youtube, we know that one of our most key traits is tha ability to encourage user expression. The last thing we want is to take away some of that freedom. However, we feel it is important

 

 

 

Question: When are these changes going to be taking place?

 

 

Answer: The Youtube cleanup period will be between July 15 and august 23rd.
